Hello!

We are SO excited you’re interested in being a guest on our show! We can’t wait to hear your story! While not super complicated, there are a few things to get setup before the call. This guide is designed to help iron out and simplify the process.

Rule #1: Don’t Panic!

Podcasts are an informal medium, and sound best when the guests are having a real conversation, rather than talking in sound bites. You don't have to be 'radio perfect' — in fact, being too slick can sometimes be a bad thing. Don’t worry though, I do edit the show to remove anything major. Podcast listeners want to hear the real you, and they want you to enjoy yourself. If you're having fun, they'll love listening to you.

Trin Garratino from Kickstarter Games has some great tips on how to sound more relaxed and natural:

3 Steps to Sound Great

These steps will explain how you can get the best sound quality.

Step #1: Zoom.us

We use a service called Zoom.us. Once we get a date and time scheduled, you’ll get a link emailed to you for the call.

Step #2: Microphone

Use an external microphone if you have one. If you don't have an external microphone, use a headset, or your phone earbuds. If you don't have those either, you can use your computer's built-in microphone — but that should be a last resort, as the sound quality will be poor. We can also record using a cellphone/landline.

Step #3: Headphones

Wear headphones or earbuds during the Zoom call. You'll hear yourself more clearly while you talk, and it also prevents your microphone from accidentally recording our end too.

Legal Stuff…

We have a general guest release form that we ask our guests to sign.

We’ve got the audio and legal stuff out of the way. Anything else?

1) We need a photo or two that you’re ok with us using in show promotions and blog post. Otherwise we’ll have to go digging on Facebook and Instagram…

2) We also need a bio for you we can use in the show notes so our audience can get to know you. We can always make one up. You’re a former pro wrestler, right?

3) Right now we are ~4 months ahead on recordings. So you can expect your interview to air ~ 4 months from when we record.

4) You’ll get questions before the call. Feel free to edit or change any. We want to make sure you’re talking about your passion.

5) Typical calls last roughly 75 mins. A hour of that will be the actual interview. Plus we will have some time for discussion and tech trouble shooting before and afterwards.

6) You’ll get a draft copy before it releases, so you can make sure it’s to your liking. We try our best to get it to you well in advance.

Ok one last thing…

Remember: the most important thing is to relax, and have fun.

If you still have questions, don't hesitate to ask! We want you to sound your best, so don't be embarrassed. We can always schedule a practice call.
